So George Jones is the new Charley Pride?
Almost every other call today was for George Jones at the Civic Centre...and every fourth one was for Charley Pride. I'm curious, but if people listened long enough to hear that George Jones was COMING to Charlottetown, don't you think they might have heard the venue too??
The best had to be a second call from a rather confused Islander...
She: I know I called you already for George Jones and you gave me the Civic Centre number, but I should have though, while I had you on the phone- how much are tickets to Charlie Pride?
Me: Well, actually, he's at the Civic Centre too.
She: (Laughing) Oh, I'm SO sorry.
Other highlights included being asked for tickets to other shows we aren't selling for- Buddy Whatshisname, and two requests for the McGill Jazz concert.
But I was almost willing to forgive them all after being asked if we sell tickets to...drum roll... the Avril Lavigne Concert in Montreal.
Yeesh. (And these are the people who are driving in the streets of Charlottetown? I'm afraid).

Asking about tix for the AVRIL concert in MONTREAL? Come'on now people! I could understand maybe the concert in moncton, or even halifax....no wait! I can't understand either! That's gotta be one of my favorite comments ever!
We could see it as a compliment. People assume the shows are at the Confederation Centre because come on we have the best place in town!!! and hey we know what is going on. Perhaps we could use these calls to upsell our own shows. Sorry Terry is rubbing off on me. Lynn
I've taken to giving out the number for the Civic Centre when people call, sort of upselling our customer service side of things (although I grit me teeth when they ASK me for it...). It might be something to work on, telling what shows we ARE playing- and if they're waiting in the queue, then they're hearing our shows!!
There's no escaping them. They're on the phone, they're at the wicket, and now George Jones and Charley Pride fans are online searching for tickets and they're arriving at our blog. Something must be done.
