Ashley's Baking Tip #209

If you're using a banana bread recipe to make muffins, keep in mind that muffins are much smaller and thus require much less time in the oven. If, however, you'd like to to make black, banana-scented rocks, then the baking time indicated in the recipe is appropriate.

Ashley's Adventures in Babysitting Continued...

Hey Guys,
Sorry about the lack of posts, but quite frankly there isn't really a whole lot going on out here. Kayden, Kelly and I went to see Zathura on Friday which was surprisingly really good. Like on the edge of your seat for most of the movie and small children crying with fear kind of good. Thankfully Kayden was not one of the crying children. Oh, AND he also made it through the whole movie without farting which was a relief. At Corpse Bride he must have farted about every two minutes, no exaggeration. If you think crying children are bad, try going to a movie with farting child. Luckily no one was sitting near us for that one.

Anyhow, smell aside, Kayden's a good kid. He had a dentist appointment last month and the poor guy had 8 cavities. Although it did mean that Kelly and I got his halloween candy; out of concern for his teeth Kelly got him to trade it in for a new skateboard instead.

So Halloween was fun. We went to a bonfire at my sister's boyfriend's neighbor's house and they had a rediculous amount of fireworks, it took a couple of hours to get through them all. Despite getting hit by bottle-rockets gone awry, it was very cool. It's crazy how many people set off fireworks around here on halloween, there must have been at least 4 other houses setting them off just on that street alone. And not just that neighborhood, everywhere we went, from about 4pm on you just keep hearing fireworks going off from all different directions. I heard somewhere that BC's the fireworks capital of Canada.

Still no phone, they actually forgot to send us gateway#5 so we had to call them again to ask them to send it, and sure enough when it finally did arrive it, too, had outdated software like gateways 1-4. Anyhow, so we're giving up on Primus and going to Shaw digital instead, supposed to be installed on Friday. Hopefully we'll have better luck.

Before....of the Before and After

A la channel 58 (Home and Garden TV for those who don't have cable or are living away in a new land of cable). Here is the 'before'....well, during really...of a reno I'm doing to one of my spare rooms. Four coats of wallpaper, there was!! Good grief. All should be pretty for a Christmas party to be scheduled at some time in December when everyone is back home. Should have 'after' pictures in about 10 days.

The Miracle of Life Part 1 : Birth

And here we see a small child, new to our world, torn asunder from his mother to be sterilized and welcomed into our most personal of worlds by similarly dressed strangers who see birth as their job rather than the miracle it is.

Congrats to Kevin and Laura and Addie and most of all to the little tyke himself Nathaniel!

49 Days until Christmas...

For those of you not lucky enough to be passing through the Box Office on a regular basis, the announcement for this year's Staff Christmas Party is up!
On Thursday, December 22, at 8pm, prepare yourself for a wild evening of karaoke, chinese food and shooters, and perhaps even a dancing bear (Scooter, we're counting on you!)

If you are a member of the staff fund, this evening is free, if not or if you are bringing a guest, it's $10.00.
Admin would like to know numbers by December 20th, so if you are up for an evening of Box Office mayhem, leave a comment and we'll sign you up!

What's Up Beotches?

So, considering our large itinerant population, I'm surprised that there are not more postings from our dear friends away. Ashley, Deidre, Dev, Alex et al. Tell us what's happening! Anyway, until you do so I am going to subject you to my photography as a threat.

This one is my cousin's kid Gavin this summer at my Aunt's cottage in Rustico.
